Free 'Murph' Workout
The ’MURPH’ is more than just a workout, it is a tradition that helps push us, humble us, and dedicate a bit of pain and sweat to honor a man who gave everything he had. LT. Michael P. Murphy (SEAL) created this workout as a test for his fellow SEALs hence the 20lb vest. LT. Murphy or 'Murph' was killed in action in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005. He was 29-years-old. He was the officer-in-charge of a four-man SEAL element in support of Operation Red Wings, tasked with finding a key anti-coalition militia commander near Asadabad, Afghanistan. Murphy is credited with risking his own life to save the lives of his teammates. You can read more about it here: https://themurphchallenge.com/pages/lt-michael-p-murphy . You may have also seen this played out on the big screen in the box office hit 'Lone Survivor'. For the workout, we will meet at the gym at 8:30am. The workout will begin right at 9am as there is a 1 hour time cap. You can walk, jog, run or use a combination to get through the miles. The pull ups, push ups, and squats can be modified and partitioned as needed. This event is open to the community!
