Director of Recruitment

Purpose: Responsible for the oversight, design, implementation and evaluation of the prospective student recruitment program for the College.

Classification: Administration, Exempt/Non-Bargaining Unit

Level: I

Supervises: Coordinator of Recruitment and Dual Credit, Coordinator of Recruitment and Events, Recruitment Experience Specialist, Coordinator of Student Life, Hourly Workers, and Student Workers

Reports To: Senior Vice President of Student Services

Principal Working Relationships: Senior Vice President of Student Services, Dean of Student Success, Admissions Recruiters, Coordinator of Recruitment and Dual Credit, Coordinator of Recruitment and Events, Coordinator of Student Life, Marketing and Public Relations Department

Major Responsibilities 

  1. Develop and implement a district wide recruitment plan.
  2. Work in cooperation with Marketing and Public Relations to develop and produce marketing materials.
  3. Utilize the existing CRM system to provide prospective student communications.
  4. Develop and implement a plan to increase recruitment of non-traditional students.
  5. Monitor enrollment and report findings on a regular basis including dashboard creation and maintenance of enrollment and recruitment metrics.
  6. Establish, maintain and improve relationships with counselors in district high schools, social service agencies and other key personnel in area business/industry.
  7. Remain current on labor market statistics impacting programs.
  8. Visit with key personnel in business/industry and with directors of social service agencies to meet with prospective adult students.
  9. Develop key performance indicators and assess outcomes for departmental initiatives and activities.  Report associated metrics and make data-driven decisions regarding plans and actions.
  10. Prepare quantitative reports and documents for the purpose of reviewing goals, objectives and the evaluation of the institutional planning process.
  11. Administer the budget, including authorization of expenditures.
  12. Serve as Captain/internal expert of Slate CRM and IData software including: Trainings, writing procedures, queries, reports, analyses, maintenance, updates, etc.
  13. Remain current on new features and developments regarding Slate CRM and IData software.
  14. Supervises coordination of campus visits made by prospective students.
  15. Supervises coordination of recruiting activities including but not limited to: high school visits, college fairs, presentations, financial aid nights, scholarships workshops, etc.
  16. Supervises coordination of Counselors Connection events for in-district high school counselors. 
  17. Supervises and assists with all on-campus recruiting related activities.
  18. Other duties as assigned.

  3. Retention activities.

Risk Management and Loss Prevention Activities 

  1. Actively participate in and carry out activities in support of the college’s Risk Management Program in a capacity appropriate to this position.
  2. Monitor conditions, events, and circumstances present in the college operation to avoid potential torts or injuries to students, staff, or the general public, then communicate observations to the appropriate supervisor and/or Risk Management Committee.
  3. Maintain a working knowledge of the college’s emergency procedures and how to operate emergency phone systems; including internal/external call boxes.
  4. Adhere to confidentiality and the protection of data.

Minimum Necessary Skills, Experience, and Educational Background

  1. Bachelor's degree required.  Master’s degree preferred.
  2. A minimum of five years of directly related experience.
  3. Basic working knowledge of computer software, including word processing, data base management and spreadsheets.
  4. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Valid driver's license.
  6. Willingness to work a flexible schedule with some evening and weekend hours required.
  7. The ability to communicate successfully with clients of all ages, socio-economic status, sex, or race.
  8. Spanish or French proficiency preferred.

Physical Requirements to Perform Job Functions

  1. Must be physically able to pack, lift, carry and transport equipment and materials as needed (20 lbs or less) and the ability to place work orders for anything over that limit.
  2. Basic dexterity skills (computer work, telephone, and other office equipment).
  3. Must have visual and hearing capabilities with/without correction.
  4. General physical effort required includes sitting standing, walking, bending, reaching and some lifting.
  5. Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
