Audio Video Production Manager/Esports Head Coach

Purpose: Provide audiovisual, video streaming, multimedia production, and tech support for computer equipment and peripheral devices. Management of the Esports program to include recruitment of student athletes, schedules competitions, practices, equipment, facility maintenance, fundraising, and community activities.

Reports To: Director of Technology Services and Information Security/Athletic Director
Principal Working Relationships: Director of Technology Services and Information Security, Athletic Director, Faculty, staff and students.

Major Responsibilities 
Audio Video Production:

  1. Manages all video and technological needs for coaches and student athletes. Responsible for all home event operations of the video livestream at games and athletic events; provides live video streaming capability, statistical data, and other appropriate information to those in attendance and online.
  2. Provide support to the Day-to-day operations of the Technology Help Team.
  3. Maintain and upgrade classroom audiovisual equipment.
  4. Create video-based multimedia products using a variety of different computer software programs, equipment and tools. 
  5. Create, maintain and update documentation on Technology Services process control documents.
  6. Maintain technology services equipment inventory including computers, printers and printer toner.
  7. Provide audiovisual support and maintain equipment for all college events.
  8. Maintain A/V equipment for college events.
  9. Serve on college committees and attend meetings and conference as appropriate for professional development.
  10. Participate in the assessment of the department and establishment of strategic initiatives for the department’s key performance indicators.
  11. Oversee and maintain College editing and sound booth.
  12. Other duties as assigned.
Esports Head Coach:
  1. Fully understand and abide by all NJCAAE rules and regulations regarding recruiting, eligibility and sport-specific rules to include practices and playing seasons.
  2. Develops and manages a recruiting plan. Corresponds with high school coaches, contacts prospective student-athletes, evaluates talent and meets with prospective students. Maintains statistics on contacts and evaluations.
  3. Maintains knowledge of current sport game rules and changes to those rules as they occur.
  4. Teaches sports techniques, game rules, strategies and game tactics.
  5. Plans, supervises, and conducts practices and conditions athletes appropriately to prepare athletes for competition.
  6. Develops strategies to motivate maximum individual and team athletic performance.
  7. Ensures the highest professional standards and behavior with regard to adherence to NJCAAE rules and regulations and other governing organizations.
  8. Counsels student athletes regarding rules and regulations related to financial aid and eligibility.
  9. Monitors academic progress and eligibility status for student-athletes in class and study hall.
  10. Manages fundraising and all promotions that assist in supporting the program. Works with the team to develop community service projects.
  11. Collaborates with the Athletic Director on budget development and ensures the program remains within the budgetary guidelines.
  12. Works with appropriate College personnel to communicate the accomplishments and endeavors of the team, both individuals and as a whole.
  13. Submits transportation requests and required travel documentation to the Athletic Director as required. Reviews transportation and meal arrangements prior to season and request changes if necessary.
  14. Attends all games/events for assigned program. Travels with team to all away games/events.
  15. Drive team vehicle to away game/events as required.
  16. Contributes to the maintenance of good working relationships with all athletics staff members, athletes, and our community partners.
  17. Assumes supervisory control over all phases of team participation. Applies discipline in a and consistent manner in accordance with College policies and procedures. Conducts oneself in an ethical manner during practices and contests and demands appropriate behavior from all team personnel.
  18. Files a written report, within 24 hours, to the Athletic Director in regard to any infraction of institutional, departmental or governing body rules, which result in disciplinary action, i.e. ejection from games, unsportsmanlike behavior, etc.
  19. Submits recommendations to Athletic Director regarding schedule, facilities, support staff, budget, transportation and equipment.
  20. Subscribes and adheres to the NJCAA Coaches Code of Conduct.
  21. Reviews equipment inventory and recommends new purchases. Prepares a list of equipment to be issued to student-athletes and tracks issuance and returns.
  22. Supervises, hires, evaluates, and leads assigned staff members.
  23. Markets and directs sport camps and clinics, both on and off campus.
  24. Works in cooperation with IT to maintain equipment.
  25. Maintain the cleanliness and order of the gaming arena.
  26. Adhere to the Coaching Ethics Code of the NJCAA.
  27. Other duties as assigned.
Assist With 
  1. Assist with the operations of the One Button Studio.
  2. Assist with video production, closed captioning and related technology.
  3. Assist with departmental assessment and establishment of key performance indicators based on the strategic plan for both the IT and Esports departments.
  4. Assist the Technology Help Desk and provide technology support to Students, Faculty and Staff.
  5. Assists the Athletic Director in preparing eligibility documentation. Completes all required departmental, conference and NJCAAE registration in a timely fashion as requested.
  6. Promotion and marketing of the College and of Esports.
  7. Training and supervising student workers.
  8. Sandburg activities and overall athletic department operations.
Risk Management and Loss Prevention Activities 
  1. Actively participate in and carry out activities in support of the college’s Risk Management Program in a capacity appropriate to this position.
  2. Monitor conditions, events, and circumstances present in the college operation to avoid potential torts or injuries to students, staff, or the general public, then communicate observations to the appropriate supervisor and/or Risk Management Committee.
  3. Maintain a working knowledge of the college’s emergency procedures and how to operate emergency phone systems; including internal/external call boxes.
  4. Adhere to confidentiality and the protection of data.
Minimum Necessary Skills, Experience, and Educational Background 
  1. Associate Degree or 60 hours of college credit or specialized related training and two years related experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  2. Specialized knowledge, education, training and applied experience with the audiovisual production process from beginning to end, operating a wide range of complex production equipment such as audio recorders, HD video cameras and recorders, video editing software (Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Audition), and video production switcher.
  3. Experience in a college, professional office, or related setting; knowledge of video streaming technology, website management, printers, PC's and CPU's, and other technology directly required for Esports play.
  4. Experience in the field to include working knowledge of audiovisual production, graphics production, and maintenance and minor repairs of AV equipment.
  5. The ability to communicate successfully with clients of all ages, socio-economic status, sex, or race. 
  6. Work a flexible schedule with significant evening and weekend hours required.
  7. Certified for CPR/AED and first aid training or ability to obtain certification by employment.
  8. Valid driver's license and insurability with the College required.
  9. The ability to communicate successfully with clients of all ages, socio-economic status, sex, or race.
  10. Spanish or French proficiency preferred.
Physical Requirements to Perform Job Functions 
  1. Basic manual dexterity (computer work telephoning)
  2. General physical effort required includes standing, walking, some bending, lifting reaching and lifting 50 lbs. and ability to place work orders for anything over that limit.
  3. Must have vision and hearing capabilities with/without correction.
