About Us

Habitat for Humanity of Knox County Illinois is a Christian housing ministry that believes everybody deserve a place to live. Our goal is to provide decent, safe and affordable housing to hard working families living in Knox County IL. Habitat is a hand up, not a hand out. Each partner family must have a demonstrated housing need, performs 500 hours of sweat equity, and have the ability to pay for a mortgage that is affordable to them.

Habitat services include new home construction, the rehabilitation of older homes, and an exterior repair program called A Brush with Kindness. Homes are made affordable by the generosity of hundreds of volunteers who provide labor to build these home. Habitat partners with local government and businesses to enrich our community and revitalize neighborhoods.

Habitat practices the theology of the hammer. Meaning believers and nonbelievers coming together for a common cause. You do not have to be a Christian to receive services or volunteer and we will not proselytize while your on our site.
