GALESBURG, IL – Gordon Behrents Senior Center welcomes Jackie Jennings as the new director of Knox County’s only adult day service provider.

Jennings is a Galesburg native and completed the nursing program at Carl Sandburg College. A few years after completing her degree, she and her son moved to Texas where she was an RN. She left her nursing career in 2016 and served for one year as a missionary in a shelter home for pregnant and parenting women in Phoenix, Arizona.

In 2017, Jennings returned to Galesburg to help her mother. “I’ve been away for many years but have always worked with the elderly in one way or another,” said Jennings. “I came back to my hometown to help my mom and my family. I believe the desire to help the elderly in Galesburg grew out of that. I’m very excited to begin this new chapter at Gordon Behrents Senior Center alongside those who have been here for many years.”

Jennings brings 25 years of nursing experience with her to Gordon Behrents Senior Center where she can continue serving her community in multiple ways. Jennings is also an active member of the Praireland Senior Focus Group, a volunteer for the Women’s Pregnancy Center of Galesburg, and a member of Harmony Baptist Church where she volunteers in the nursery.
