The Knox County Health Department is dedicated to providing public health services to address everyday and emerging public health issues. Health department staff work hard to ensure the Health Departments Vision and Mission are met:

Our Mission: To serve Knox County by assessing health and environmental needs, developing policies, and assuring those needs are effectively addressed.
The Knox County Health Department is responsible for the day-to-day safety and health of the public. On any given day, staff are conducting restaurant inspections, inspecting water wells, onsite wastewater treatment systems, providing immunizations, testing for STD’s and HIV, writing grants, providing education to the community, and much more. Staff also addresses emerging issues such as West Nile Virus, COVID-19, and Bio-Emergency threats, as well as Influenza.
