Want future storm alerts? There’s an app for that – Knox County uses CodeRED
Galesburg, IL (September 9, 2024) Knox County and the City of Galesburg rely on the CodeRED emergency notification system to deliver telephone calls, text messages and/or emails keeping the public informed during severe weather outbreaks. These same alerts can also be delivered directly to your cell phone via the CodeRED Mobile Alert app, providing residents, businesses, and visitors with important alerts specific to the user’s exact location.
The app alerts give Knox County and the City of Galesburg a very important and oftentimes critical method to notify those residents who may not be at home or work when an alert is initiated. The CodeRED Mobile Alert app delivers emergency and general alerts to only those individuals impacted within a specific geographic area.
The app delivers free emergency notifications to all Knox County residents who have signed up. CodeRED is also used by other communities throughout the United States and Canada. As you travel about the country, CodeRED will notify you of any emergencies as you travel across the country. The app is available for download on the App Store and Google Play at no charge.
